About Our Balm Collection
Most balms are a blend of butters, waxes and oils. Beard balms use them to condition facial hair and the skin underneath while giving light hold, so a beard looks tidier and feels softer. Aftershave balms are creamier and usually alcohol-free, soothing and moisturising skin straight after a shave. Hair balms are lighter again, smoothing frizz and defining curls or waves without the crunch of a gel.

Beard balm or beard oil. Oil absorbs quickly and suits short stubble and the skin underneath. Balm adds more conditioning and light hold, which suits medium and longer beards. Many men use oil in the morning and balm when they want more control.
Pick a beard balm by hold and scent. Styling balms such as Stag Supply give more control, while softening formulas such as Bossman Magic Blue focus on comfort. Choose a fragrance you like, or a fragrance-free balm if you wear cologne.

Scrape a fingertip's worth from the tin, warm it between your palms and work it through a clean, towel-dried or dry beard. Comb or brush into shape.
How much beard balm should I use?
Start with a pea-sized amount for a short beard and add more for a longer one. Too much can feel heavy or greasy.
Can I use beard balm every day?
Yes. Most beard balms are made for daily use. Wash your beard regularly with a beard wash so balm does not build up.

How do I use a curl balm?
Apply to soaking-wet or damp hair, rake or scrunch through, then air-dry or diffuse. Use more for thick curls and less for fine waves.

Can I use a hair balm before blow-drying?

What is a texturising balm?

Do balms expire?
Yes. Check the period-after-opening symbol on the pack, often 12 months. Keep lids closed and store away from heat.
Will beard balm melt in summer?
Balms soften in heat, especially in a hot car. Store them somewhere cool; they firm up again at room temperature.

Can I return a product I have opened?
No. For hygiene reasons, opened or used products cannot be returned unless they are faulty.
What is your returns policy for unopened items?
Unopened, unused items in original packaging can be returned within 30 days for a change of mind. Return postage and a restocking fee of $10 or 10% (whichever is less) apply.
What if my order arrives leaking or damaged?
Email care@zilion.co.nz within 5 days of delivery with your order number and photos. We will arrange a replacement or refund.
Do you deliver to PO Boxes or overseas?
No. Our couriers do not deliver cosmetics to PO Boxes, and we ship within New Zealand only.
