Danger Jones Hair Colour in NZ
This is the colour side of Danger Jones in one place: the numbered Gloss Toners, the Artistic Toners, the 118ml vivid semi-permanent shades, and the lighteners, developers and remover that go with them. Zilion stocks more than 90 Danger Jones colour products, and the Gloss Toners are among the best-selling colour items in our store.
Zilion is an official NZ stockist of Danger Jones, so every tube and bottle is genuine stock sent from within New Zealand. Use this page as a shade guide: it explains how the toner numbers work, which vivid shades sit in each colour family, and what you need to mix and apply them.
About Danger Jones Colour
Danger Jones colour falls into two systems. The Gloss Toners are acidic, demi-permanent toners mixed with the Danger Jones Gloss Toner Developer. They deposit tone and shine without lifting, which makes them the go-to for refining blonde, adding a cool or warm reflect to brunette, or glossing hair with the 0.0 Clear. The Artistic Toners in Cool Blonde, Silver and Violet do a similar job on pre-lightened hair, in 90ml bottles.
The semi-permanent colours are direct dyes in a conditioning cream, sold in 118ml tubes and applied straight from the tube with no developer. They are made for pre-lightened hair and come in bright, neon, pastel and metallic shades, plus a Clear for diluting any shade into a pastel.
How the Gloss Toner Numbers Work
Each Gloss Toner has a number such as 10.1 or 8.34. The number before the point is the level, or depth: 3 is a dark brunette, 5 and 6 are light brown to dark blonde, 7 and 8 are medium to light blonde, and 9 and 10 are very light to lightest blonde. The numbers after the point describe the tone.
- .0 Natural. A neutral result, such as 7.0 Natural and 8.0 Natural.
- .1 Ash. Cool and smoky, for neutralising warmth, such as 10.1 Ash and 7.1 Ash.
- .01 Natural Ash. A softer cool, such as 7.01 and 8.01.
- .2 Violet. Cancels yellow for pearly, icy blondes, such as 10.2 Violet.
- .3 Gold. Warm, sunny blondes such as 9.3 and 7.3.
- .32 Gold/Violet. Creamy champagne and beige blondes, such as 10.32 and 8.32.
- .4 Copper and .34 Gold Copper. Warm, radiant tones, such as 7.4 and 8.34, with the .44 Booster to intensify copper.
- 0.0 Clear. 0.0 Clear adds shine without colour and softens other shades in a mix.

Benefits of Danger Jones Colour
- Precise toning. The numbered Gloss Toners make it easy to choose a level and tone, and they can be mixed for custom results.
- Shine as well as tone. Acidic gloss toners leave hair glossy, and 0.0 Clear adds shine with no colour at all.
- No lift from toners. Gloss Toners deposit tone without lightening the natural base.
- Vivids straight from the tube. The semi-permanent shades need no developer.
- Custom pastels. Mixing any vivid with Clear gives you control over how soft the pastel is.
- A complete system. Lightener, developer, toner, vivid colour and remover all come from one brand.
Choosing Danger Jones Colour
Toning blonde. Match the toner level to the hair's current level. Very pale yellow hair at level 9 or 10 suits 10.1, 10.2 or 9.12 for a cool result, or 10.32 for a creamy one. Level 7 or 8 hair that looks brassy suits 7.1, 7.01 or 8.01.
Refreshing brunette. 5.0, 6.0 and 3.0 refresh natural brown tones, while 5.1 and 6.01 cool them down. 6.52 adds a cool mahogany reflect.
Warm blondes and coppers. 9.3 and 7.3 give golden results; 7.4 and 8.34 give copper. Add the .44 Booster for extra intensity.
Going vivid. Lighten first with a Danger Jones lightener and developer, such as the Cream Lightener & 20 Vol Developer Duo Bundle, then apply the semi-permanent shade to clean, dry hair. Pastels and light shades need the palest base.
Choose your developer. Gloss Toners use the 6 vol Gloss Toner Developer. Deluxe Cream Developers such as 10 vol and 20 vol are for lightening. Browse Developer and Bleach for every strength.
Plan aftercare. Wash with cool water and the sulfate-free Danger Jones Shampoo range, and follow with Danger Jones Conditioner.
