About Hair Thickening Products
Thickening products work in different ways, and it helps to know which one you are buying. Thickening shampoos and conditioners cleanse without heavy oils and coat each strand lightly so hair feels fuller and holds volume. Leave-on scalp treatments, such as Redken Thickening Treatment Stemoxydine or Nioxin's leave-on treatments, are applied to the scalp daily and are designed to improve the look of density over weeks and months. Hair fibres and fibre sprays are a cosmetic cover, clinging to your own hair to hide thin patches instantly. Hair Thickening by Type
Nioxin systems. Nioxin's Scalp + Hair Thickening Systems come in four numbers. System 1 is for natural, untreated hair with light thinning and System 2 for natural hair with progressed thinning. System 3 is for coloured, dry or damaged hair with light thinning and System 4 for coloured hair with progressed thinning. Each system has a shampoo, conditioner and leave-on treatment, sold singly, in 1 litre sizes, as duos, full-size kits or a trial kit such as the System 2 Trial Kit.
Thickening shampoo and conditioner. Decibel Thickening Shampoo is sulphate-free with the brand's 140dB Complex, Bokka Botanika Thikk Volume Shampoo uses bamboo extract and quinoa for fine, colour-treated hair, and Scalp&Care makes Australian-made thickening shampoos and conditioners in natural and coloured hair versions. Scalp serums and treatments. Redken Thickening Treatment Stemoxydine 90ml is a leave-in scalp treatment that Redken says improves visible hair density within 3 months. L'Oreal Professionnel Serioxyl Advanced Denser Hair contains 5% Stemoxydine with resveratrol. Arata makes two lightweight scalp serums, and Nioxin adds Diaboost, Night Density Rescue and Hair Fall Defense. Kerasilk Activating Scalp Foundation pairs Ectoin, ginseng and menthol for thinning hair and sensitive scalps.

Hair Thickening Buying Guide
Work out what you are dealing with. Naturally fine hair that lacks body needs volumising and thickening products. Hair that has become noticeably thinner needs a scalp routine as well. Sudden or patchy loss needs a medical opinion first.

How to Use a Thickening Routine
Shampoo with a thickening shampoo, massaging the scalp with your fingertips for a minute before rinsing. Apply conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the roots, and rinse well. On towel-dried hair, apply your leave-on scalp treatment directly to the scalp, parting the hair in sections, and do not rinse. Finish with a root spray or mousse at the roots, then blow-dry with a round brush, lifting at the crown. Use fibres last, on dry styled hair.

Shampoos and stylers make existing hair look fuller. Some leave-on scalp treatments are designed to improve the look of density over time, but none are medicines, so see your GP about medical hair loss.
How long before I see results?
Thickening shampoos, stylers and fibres work straight away. Leave-on scalp treatments need consistent daily use for at least three months; Redken says Stemoxydine improves visible density within 3 months.
What is the difference between thickening and volumising?
Volumising products lift hair at the root and add body. Thickening products make each strand feel fuller or target the scalp. Many routines use both.
Which Nioxin system should I use?

What is your returns policy for unopened items?
Unopened, unused items in original packaging can be returned within 30 days for a change of mind. Return postage and a restocking fee of $10 or 10% (whichever is less) apply.
What if my order arrives leaking or damaged?
